The plodding nature of the stock market’s ascent is worrisome

The stock market has continued its bullish trend. The latest
short-term bullish leg began last November. Most of technology
still lags behind the rest of the market. The only thing worrisome
about the overall markets' performance is its failure to roar
higher on increasing volume. Instead it has been plodding,
making relative small steps.

It is easy to see what is holding back the market in our Market
Sector Graphs' Table. It shows retail sinking by a high 2.9% in
March while transportation roared ahead by 2.6%. The automobile
sector also improved by 2.9%. But the increase in relative strength
in energy by 2.2% portends higher gasoline expenses in the
near future.
