Stock sector strength predicts commodity movment

Frequently stocks move ahead of their commodity cousins.  Here is an example of the energy sector compared to gasoline futures. The energy sector was dropping all through 2010 into February 2011. At the same time gasoline was rising. But gasoline started falling just two months later and did not stop until mid December.

Now we have another divergence: gasoline has been rising since mid December while the energy sector is falling. Let us see if history repeats itself.
